Medan Ikan Bakar Muara Sg Duyong

Melaka famous with amazing eating places especially for grilled fish. People willing to drive down south to Melaka just to have dinner. Out of famous grilled fish places, this is one of my favorite place, Medan Ikan Bakar Muara Sg Duyong.

You have to passed by Ujong Pasir and Padang Temu to get to this place. Just take the straight road after the Portugese Settlement until you saw a river, Sg Duyong. Turn to the right after the bridge and just straight ahead until the end of the road. You will found this yellow color restaurant.

The seafood is superbly fresh and they offer variety of seafood like pari, jenahak, siakap, kerapu, kembong, cencaru, prawn, squid, crab, few type of clams, cockles and many more. I like the way they cooked the dishes. You can even asked for two type of grilled for one fish. Beside seafood, they also have chicken wrapped with pandan leaves, otak otak, tauhu bakar and vegetable. For dessert, chill coconut jelly and fruits are more than enough to complete your dinner.

The last time I went there, I ordered half chilli grilled and half 3 flavored deep fry for Jenahak, grilled pari, squid fritters, butter garlic prawn, pandan chicken and nasi lemak. Also, we ordered two jugs of fresh orange, 15 pcs of otak otak, mushroom in oyster sauce and chill coconut jelly.

We get there pretty early that day, around 6:20pm. The restaurant is not busy and full yet, so we took our sweet time to enjoy the food.

This restaurant do accept reservation for family dinner or gathering. With spacious place, fresh seafood and delicious dishes, it come with a cheap price. For 2 type of fishes, 1/2 kg of squid, 1/2 kg of prawn, 2 pcs of pandan chicken, 15 pcs of otak otak, a plate of mushroom in oyster sauce, 8 packs of nasi lemak, 2 jugs of orange juice and 2 cups of coconut jelly, I paid only RM120.00. Its more cheaper than Umbai. Thats why I opted this place whenever I feel like to eat seafood.

Healthy Jello

Never in my right mind have I ever think to try this jello. Its black and its smell funny. I can't stand a mixture of herbs smell and I wondering how people can consume this easily. But after my friend introduce to me a week ago, I brave my heart to slip this jello down on my throat.

Wow.

We choose Methol Herbal Jelly. Its black, its smell funny but it taste nothing but minty. Just like you eat a mint grass jelly drinks. The taste is similar like you take your coughing syrup. You can also pour some honey to add a little taste.

The important thing is good for your health.

Alleviating of discomfort of smoking & drinking
Diminishing pf pimples & acnes

She sells sea shells at the back lane

Kerang cangkung

My housemate introduce this cool place to me few months back. Now, it be one of my favourite spot for dinner. The place is quite alienated and some people don't really keen to go to this place as it located at the backlane of shop houses. There's 2 stalls who sell those shells at this back lane in Bunga Raya. Both of them sell similar things; kerang, lala, siput sawah, tau kee, sotong kangkung, ladies fingers, sotong bakar and century eggs.

You can reach this place by two routes, Jalan Bendahara and Jalan Bunga Raya. For Jalan Bendahara, you just drive along the road until you reach the 4 corners traffic light where Pizza Hut is on your right. Right after traffic light, slowing down your car and park your car anywhere along the road side, near the Mercedes Benz showroom. The lane/stalls are on you right, behind the row of shop houses.

Well done boiled kerang and lala

For Jalan Bunga Raya, you drive along the road until you reach Madam King and slowing down your car when you reaching one lane before traffic light. Park your car anywhere along the road. The lane/stalls are on your right. Usually, there's chinese aunty selling kuih apam & chinese uncle selling char koi at the mouth of the road.

The dip for kerang, lala and siput sawah

Just go to any stall you prefer, they will give you a warm welcome. You can seat on the stool or on the chairs/tables provided. I prefer stool because you can order anything you want that serve in front of your nose :)

For kerang, lala and siput sawah, they will asked you whether you want them well done or half raw. I don't think I can gulp down half raw any of them. Haha. They served kerang/lala/siput sawah with their home made dipped sauce made of sweet sauce, crush peanut and a lime squeeze.

Delicious tau kee

For far, my favourite is their tau kee. Tau kee is a mixture of grilled tau kee, crush dried keropok, fried beancurd, slices cucumber, slices pineapple & fishball, splash of sweet sauce, lemon sauce & chilli sauce, a dash of sasame seed & crush peanut and a nice squeeze of fresh lime.

Sotong kangkung

Sotong kangkung is nothing different with tau kee, they just replace all the slices ingredients with boiled kangkung and sotong.

Century egg with ginger pickle

Usually, before I left, I will order 1 century egg as desert and it comes with sweet ginger pickle. Its almost taste like malay telur pindang. For drinks, you can choose from longan (the favourite), barley, limau ais, chinese tea to can drinks to wash down all the food you consume.

This stall is open around 8pm roughly until 10:30pm and closed on Tuesday.

Judy Spa @ The Baba House

I had a stiff neck the other day and really need a back massage to cure my back. Numbers of sleepless night makes me dig in for good back massage. Not only I search high and low in every part of Melaka town, I also google it on the net.

I stumble upon this review and I instantly attracted to go for it, Judy Spa at The Baba House (Boutique Hotel).

The Baba House is located near the Jonker St. (Jalan Hang Jebat) and sandwich between antique shops and old shop houses. Just walk along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock until you find The Baba House hotel on your left. Its a little bit tricky to find this spa. You will find a small hanging signage on the next door of the hotel but there is no entrace. That only I know this spa is actually part of the hotel. You have to enter the main entrace of The Baba House hotel to go to the spa.

The spa is on the right from lobby. There is a nice man will attend you at the spa's entrance.

They offer lots of massages and I didn't managed to remember all the names. With back pain conquer my body, I don't even care to take the photos of the place. But what I can tell you, the interior is soothing and relaxing with a fresh lemongrass aroma all over the room. Its not big like other spa, they only have 2 rooms. One for single and another room is for couple.

I opted for half an hour back massage which cost me RM48. You can always upgrade it to 1 hour that will cost you only RM88.00 (if I'm not mistaken) but since I'm in the hurry, I choose for half an hour service.

After a relaxing half an hour, my neck getting better and my back less pain just after massage. That is what I rate a great massage.
